[103], which tracks the movement of users across different Manosphere subreddits, we measure the extent of migration from a given source community to a destination community via two metrics: Migration Relative to Destination (MRD), which measures the degree to which migrations into a destination community can be attributed to a given source community: Migration Relative to Destination (MRD), Migration Relative to Source (MRS), which measures the degree to which migrations from a source community can be attributed to a given destination community: Migration Relative to Source (MRS), In this analysis, we examine two distinct time periods: July 2019 (when r/GenZedong was founded) to June 2020 and July 2020 (when the tankies community overtook r/communism in terms of MAU) to March 2022. MRDs and MRSs from other far-left communities to tankies are presented in Figure 4. During the first month after r/GenZedong was founded, 58.4% of the tankies user-base came from other far-left communities. On average, 34.3% of tankies MAU came from other far-left communities during the first period. However, during the second period, there was a clear decrease in migrations from other far-left communities to tankies, with a mean MRD of 17.3%. The highest migrations to tankies come from r/communism and r/socialism for most of the months in our dataset. During the first period, the mean MRDs from these communities to tankies are 15.8%. The second period also saw a decrease in MRDs from these communities, with mean MRDs of 5.7% and 8.4% respectively. We find strong negative correlations between the monthly user counts of tankies and MRDs to tankies from r/DemocraticSocialism (𝜌 = −0.71) and r/Anarchism (𝜌 = −0.71). We also find moderate negative correlations for r/Marxism (𝜌 = −0.69), r/communism (𝜌 = −0.68), r/socialism (𝜌 = −0.64), and r/IWW (𝜌 = −0.60). In contrast, we find a moderate positive correlation for r/alltheleft (𝜌 = 0.49). We do not observe any trend for this community’s MRDs to tankies, and we find decreasing trends for MRDs from other far-left communities to tankies when applying the Mann-Kendall test. For the MRSs of other far-left communities to tankies, a different pattern emerges. In the second time period, we find that the MRSs to tankies from these communities are higher. Instead of r/socialism, we find r/Marxism and r/communism have the highest MRSs to tankies for most of the months in our dataset’s timeline. The mean MRSs for r/communism and r/Marxism are 6.4% and 7.5% in the first period, but they increase to 16% and 13.3% in the second period. This means that over 1 in 10 users from r/communism and r/Marxism continuously migrated to tankies during this period. This trend is also seen for r/alltheleft, except for three months. Our findings show that r/DemocraticSocialism and r/Anarchism have the lowest migrations to tankies, with mean migrations of 1% and 1.5% in the first period, and 2.4% and 2.6% in the second period, respectively. In contrast to MRDs, we find positive strong correlations between the monthly user counts of tankies and MRSs from other far-left communities. r/socialism (𝜌 = 0.93), r/alltheleft (𝜌 = 0.91), r/DemocraticSocialism (𝜌 = 0.89), and r/IWW (𝜌 = 0.72) have strong correlations, while r/communism (𝜌 = 0.68), r/Anarchism (𝜌 = 0.62), and r/Marxism (𝜌 = 0.50) have moderate positive correlations. We also find increasing trends for MRSs from each far-left community to tankies, except for r/Anarchism. We find all correlations are significant, with 𝑝 < 0.01 after adjustment for multiple testing using the Benjamini-Hochberg method [17]. Takeaways. Overall, we find that the user-base of tankies is definitively positioned on the periphery of far-left ideologies. When we examine the migratory patterns between tankies and other far-left communities, we find that the popularity of tankies increased among other far-left communities (except r/Anarchism), even though their proportional contribution to the user base of tankies decreased over time. This suggests that the initial tankies community started with a relatively small number of members from established far-left communities, and then rapidly siphoned off members from these other far-left communities once it exceeded the user base of r/communism. Conducted Experiments and References 2 Related Works 2.1 Pneumatic Actuation There are numerous possibilities for designing and constructing pneumatic actuators. As is common in soft robotics, bio-inspired actuators exist. In [21], an actuator is presented that combines both pneumatics and tendons to mimic and attempts to mimic the behaviour of an octopus arm. Similar in final operation, although inspired by the human finger, can be considered the work of [22]. This consists of three one-dimensional valves that swell, thus mimicking the movement of the phalanges. Nevertheless, the most common bio-inspired pneumatic actuators are Pneumatic Artificial Muscles (PAMs). They are based on achieving extension or contraction of a pneumatic chamber, similar to that of a muscle. The walls of the chamber are usually made of a very thin and flexible membrane, which facilitates large deformations with little air flow introduced [23]. Although some actuators lengthen longitudinally upon inflation [24], the prevalent approach involves utilising McKibben muscles, consisting of a bladder inserted into a braided mesh that constrains the movement of the bladder as it inflates, producing a contraction of the whole [25]. An arm of two PAM segments is designed and modelled in [26]. Another alternative that has gained particular importance in recent years is the Pneunet-type actuators, firstly introduced in [27]. Manipulators that use this type of action consist of a finned beam type structure and, in some cases, some material of varying stiffness. It has been widely used for grippers [28, 29], soft gloves [30] and for modelling human body parts [31]. Different authors have proposed evolutions to this structure. An optimisation of the geometry is carried out at [32], whereas [33] presents PneuFlex actuator, which has evolved the Pneunet concept by making the beam have a variable cross-section. On the other hand, the works of [34] and [35] show how it is possible to design pneumatic segments based on this actuator with bidirectional bending. Jamming, initially used for soft grippers [36] can also be used to create manipulators in the form of beams [37]. Their function is the reverse of that of Pneunets: in their natural state they are bent and, when negative pressure is applied, they stiffen. In [38], a TPU-printed segment at which pressure or vacuum can be applied, is introduced. 2.2 Pneumatic Arms In addition to the design of actuators, pneumatic soft robotics has to face the challenge of their integration for the construction of arms with various degrees of freedom. While some of the previous work, such as [26], does form small arms, several alternatives have been developed for the construction of manipulators. A first option are hybrid approaches, in which both rigid and purely soft elements are combined, which makes it possible to obtain a relatively stable mechanism in a simple way. An example of this can be found in the work [39], in which antagonistically actuated PAM pairs are used to move a rigid beam arm with seven degrees of freedom. A very similar procedure is followed in [40]. To prevent the robot from causing harm to humans, inflatable sleeves are added to the arm. In [41], a pneumatic segment with rigid bases is developed. This consists of six tubes which, due to their geometry, when inflated in groups of three, allow the assembly to rotate on the axis perpendicular to the bases. Although a whole robotic arm is not developed as such, but only a segment of one degree of freedom, it is integrated into an entirely soft robotic arm. The same authors had previously developed a six-degree-of-freedom robotic arm from 85 cm-long segments, capable of lifting loads of up to 3 kg [42]. The work of [43], on the other hand, presents an origami robotic arm made of TPU. This is inflated and deflated by pneumatic actuation, but its position is controlled by tendons which, while slowing down the system, make it much more precise. Among 3D printed robots, [44] presents a three-degree-of-freedom segment, whose movement is achieved by inflating or deflating one or more of its three pneumatic tubes. It also has cables that play the role of antagonist and stiffen the movements of the manipulator. Its working principle is very similar to that of the work of [1]. Also based on the philosophy of printable and deployable robots, [45, 46] present a Honeycomb Pneumatic Network (HPN) arm. It has been constructed by concatenating TPU honeycomb structures, each with an airbag inside. Several prototypes are presented in the paper, one of which can reach a length of 600 mm after joining four segments together. While several of its advantages are discussed, it presents the problem that its weight, without being exaggerated, is high: the arm, considering all the tubes, weighs 4.4 kg. The robot of [47] consists of two segments, each with three pneumatic tubes. Although this theoretically gives it six degrees of freedom, the controllers are only responsible for the upper module, which does not allow all positions and orientations to be freely fixed. The STIFF-FLOP manipulator was introduced in [48]. This consists of an elastomeric cylinder with a series of pneumatic chambers inside, the inflation and deflation of which causes deformation of the cylinder and therefore movement of the robot. Various iterations of this design exist, such as the STIFF-FLOP segment with stiffening tendons demonstrated in [31]. In this line, SoPrA, presented in [49], is made combining three fibre-reinforced silicone segments, each shaped like a conical trunk, so that the end of the robot is much narrower than the base. Although the truncated cone shape is advantageous because, as the authors point out, the upper segments require more torque and hold more tubes inside them, the manufacturing process used to achieve the taper prevents new segments from being easily added to the robot. In [50], a 3-segment arm is built using silicone rubber. Each segment is 110 mm long, has a diameter of 45 mm and, contrary to traditional STIFF-FLOP structure, it is equipped with four inflatable cavities. This implies an increase of weight and difficulty of control, as redundancy is increased compared to having only three degrees of freedom per segment. Quantum computing is projected to have a cumulative economic impact exceeding $1 trillion by 2035. This is because quantum computers are expected to perform calculations in seconds that would take traditional supercomputers many years to accomplish the same task. At its core, quantum computing relies on the principles of quantum mechanics, such as superposition, entanglement, and interference, to perform computations. While classical computers rely on binary bits (zeros and ones) to store and process data, quantum computers can encode even more data at once using quantum bits, or qubits, in superposition. What this means is that the rise of quantum computing has the potential to revolutionize industries, solve complex problems, and reshape the future. As noted by Kevin Hartnett in Quanta Magazine, “Computer scientists have been looking for such a problem since 1993, when they first defined a class of problems known as ‘BQP’ [bounded-error quantum polynomial time], which encompasses all problems that quantum computers can solve. “Since then, computer scientists have hoped to contrast BQP with a class of problems known as ‘PH’ [polynomial hierarchy], which encompasses all the problems workable by any possible classical computer — even unfathomably advanced ones engineered by some future civilization. Making that contrast depended on finding a problem that could be proven to be in BQP but not in PH.” Hartnett explains that in May 2018, computer scientists Ran Raz and Avishay Tal provided strong evidence “that quantum computers possess a computing capacity beyond anything classical computers could ever achieve.” While scientists have yet to discover how to fully make use of quantum computing, some current applications of quantum computing do exist, and they have proven highly useful. Manifold Geometry Meets Logistic Regression: The Rise of Hypergyroplanes

Michael Saylor’s MicroStrategy has recently announced that they purchased 27,200 BTC worth $2.03 billion between October 31 and November 10. The average price was $74,464 per Bitcoin.

Back at the start of the year, MicroStrategy had 189,150 BTC, so the company bought 90,270 BTC in 2024. Overall, MicroStrategy bought its BTC for less than half the current price and is ready for the next leg of the current bull market. The company’s results are impressive, but the plan behind MicroStrategy’s success is extremely simple. Saylor buys BTC whenever possible and does not sell any of MicroStrategy’s holdings. Saylor does not pay attention to news, regulatory challenges, political developments, and even the price. MicroStrategy buys BTC regularly and uses its access to traditional financial markets to raise funds to buy more Bitcoin, as simple as that. A similar strategy is used by El Salvador, which is led by Nayib Bukele. El Salvador started buying BTC in September 2021. Back then, Bitcoin traded near the $51,000 level. Bukele was heavily criticized for his decision to start buying Bitcoin. The IMF raised worries about the country’s BTC plan, but Bukele did not blink. In November 2022, Bukele introduced a new BTC policy. El Salvador started to buy one Bitcoin per day. This simple idea brought great results, as Bitcoin traded near the $16,000 level at that time. The key question is when will the simple strategy popularized by Saylor and Bukele get adopted by institutional investors and governments? It should be noted that this idea is slowly gaining momentum. In Japan, an investment firm Metaplanet follows the MicroStrategy route and has already bought more than 1,000 BTC. The rising number of strategic holders will boost demand for Bitcoin in the future. The catalyst that could send Bitcoin well above the $100,000 level is the emergence of another country that is ready to put BTC into reserves. El Salvador is a small country that cannot make a big impact in the market. A country larger than El Salvador can make a big difference. In the U.S., Senator Cynthia Lummis is proposing to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve. To build this reserve, Lummis plans to implement a 1-million-unit Bitcoin purchase program to buy roughly 5% of the total Bitcoin supply. The idea is to mirror the size of gold reserves held by the U.S. In case such a proposal is implemented, Bitcoin price will skyrocket. However, it remains to be seen whether the U.S. is ready to make a sharp turn from curbing crypto activity to buying BTC for strategic reserves. The existence of such proposals indicates that countries have started to explore the potential role of BTC as a strategic store of value. The more the Bitcoin price grows, the more countries and investment firms will ask themselves whether they should put it in their reserves and portfolios.
